Coach Gilio believes in what Dr. Nikolai Bernstein’s called “degrees of freedom.” That in any human movement, there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal. When executing a complicated movement like throwing or hitting, there is no such thing as an “ideal technique” or a “repeatable delivery.” I believe in ‘variable weight training’ when it comes to weighted balls and bats. I also believe that words don’t work. In trying to influence a movement pattern, you just can't sit on a bucket barking out words that athletes can’t comprehend or that will lack the ability to have their brain process those words in a manner to have their body create change.
